Boardwalk, 2012 by Evan Clabots/Nonlinear Studio

Boardwalk, 2012, a dining table by Evan Clabots/Nonlinear Studio is made of repurposed pallets and oak dowels.

Made from shipping pallets that washed up on the docks at the Brooklyn Navy Yard during Super Storm Sandy, the table bears a resemblance to the beloved boardwalks that were lost in the storm. Celebrating the beauty of the weathered boards’ distressed finish, contrasted the clean cuts that expose fresh wood, the table mirrors the healing and re-growth of the city after the storm. The dowel pins follow the nail holes that originally held the pallets together, celebrating the inconsistency and character inherent in the repurposed wood. 56” x 39” x 32”
